Probably my most anticipated movie of 2014, based solely on the strength of the first movie. It didn't disappoint but is a very different movie "Rise of ..." . More political, more epic and with an amazing cast of... apes. Really, really amazing work done with Caesar. It lacks some of the "big" gut gripping moments, the 'human' cast is no James Franco of the first but other than that can't wait for the next one. Worth seeing a second time.

One of the better X-Men movies. Even though it does not feature Wolverine, the characters are great, well portrayed by their leads and well developped throughout the movie. The underlying story, the 60s' setting and cool effects made it a very cool movie. Recommended.
Though definitely interested by the well paced and well made movie - with the two leads absolutely fantastic and gorgeous - some parts were difficult for me to sit through. I guess it talks to my morals but these are feelings that I am sure the director went for so in that sense it worked.
Though it took me a while to warm up to the movie, it pleasantly surprised from the half way point with rich worlds and fun characters. Good family movie.
Liked it more than I expected! Good performances and a heart warming yet funny premise. Short & sweet, perfect for sunday afternoon entertainment!
A very post-modern/internet age movie. Strong hook that puts you in the movie from the get go; only emphasized by great acting and set up/visuals. Does veer on the somewhat philosophical at some point to the questions are interesting enough to keep you in. Definitely recommended.
The summer of geek continues: this one, save the last act, was another big disappointment. Everything human is superfluous: none of the characters are interesting and the overall story is quite idiotic. It tries to build on a Fukushima parallel in the beginning to dissolve into a mix of "huh?" & "what's the point"?
It then, finally!, becomes a (short) Kaiju movie and a couple of good scenes come up. Visually not as impressive as I hoped it ...

I was truly excited to see this movie and though it had a couple of flaws, it was a fun ride overall. The main issues with it lies with its pacing: namely too much talking, not enough action. The few action scenes are awesome but too short. What we do get is a lot of talk scenes; some of which require a PHD in Marvel Comics. I 'studied' long enough to have one but it might turn some people off.
Now for the good: again the action sequences: one ...

Didn't enjoy it at all. Too much emphasis on the romance and honestly, Peter Parker is annoying like a high school girl who can't make up her mind. Unfortunately this isn't compensated by the Spider-Man scenes: the characters look like they're from a poor video game, the dialogue sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon and the action is best suited to a music video, not an action movie. Also, and I won't spoil, but the last act is goes to the ...

Loved it. Very smart in its use of the Star Trek mythos while building a good sci-fi movie that is visually very pleasing! I loved Spock & Khan characters and some very very good moments. More please!
As a comic book movie, it actually works: visually incredible, with some impressive camera work and stunning fight scenes. The plot suffers from the translation to movies - it can appear as a little ridiculous. Overall I enjoyed it, Chris Evans is definitely improving leaps & bounds and the Korean "Old Boy" is a bad ass.
Funny yet interesting movie. It doesn't take itself too seriously and it's the key to its success. The characters are good and the satire of New Jersey spot on. It's a really good way to spend 90minutes - if the subject matter -ie: porno- doesn't put you off the movie from the 1st minute.
Perhaps due to high expectations, but I didn't like it as much as I expected. It was first of all. I don't shock easily but the whole over the top aspect of this movie, dragged to this length made it... a little boring frankly. I also see why Leo didn't get the Oscar: it wasn't his best work: the character simply isn't subtle enough. It was an impressive movie in many aspects, Donny & cinematography being two of them, but overall it wasn't ...

Another good -not awesome- comic book movie. The overarching plot was too ridiculous to be taken seriously and this does take away from the overall enjoyment of the movie.
It's a shame, because there are a lot of things to like, especially for the geeks among us: The characters are glorious - I love Cap Evans and Scarlett Widow- and the casting for & way that the newbies Falcon and Winter Soldier are handled are absolutely awesome. Some ...

Liked it better the second time around. Origin story is strong and faithful to the source material. The latter half of the movie suffers from some over-cartoony moments and dialogues and some disorienting superposition
spoiler:
of sci-fi tec on 1940s' WWII setting
. I like the choice of Evans as Cap'!

This second Hobbit movie focuses on a journey. As such, it is easy to discredit it as a movie where 'not much happens' and, in fairness, once we see the three movies, it will perhaps be the case. However, some scenes are truly epic and the scenes with Smaug are some of the most visually stunning scenes with a Dragon ever made in cinema.
It is a fun 'journey' and a very enjoyable fantasy piece.

An uninteresting, uninspired copy & paste version of Cars in the Air. Even the characters are so cliché, they're almost a parody. Surprised Pixar can release movies of such poor quality...
